Lay Down Your Life: The Losing Battle That Calls Us Back to God

Lay Down Your Life:

The Losing Battle That Calls Us Back to God

There is a picture that lives deep in the human soul.

It shows up early, long before we have words for it. It is not about winning. It is not about conquest, recognition, or survival. It is about standing when retreat would be easier, about holding the line when the outcome is already decided. It’s about choosing to lay down your life.

A few against many.
A narrow place.
Time bought with flesh and breath. [Read more…] about Lay Down Your Life: The Losing Battle That Calls Us Back to God

Biblical Rest: Understanding Rest That Isn’t Escape

Biblical Rest:

Understanding Rest That Isn’t Escape

Lately, I’ve been thinking about rest. Not rest as a concept, but rest as it actually shows up in everyday life. I’ve noticed that a lot of what we call rest isn’t really rest at all. It’s an escape. It’s a distraction. It’s avoidance. And while those things might give temporary relief, they don’t actually restore the soul. [Read more…] about Biblical Rest: Understanding Rest That Isn’t Escape

Putting My Hope in God Instead of the Provision

Putting My Hope in God Instead of the Provision

I woke up around two in the morning in a full panic.

Not just worry. Panic. My chest was tight. My thoughts were racing. Bad dreams that don’t really stop when I wake up. My mind goes straight to the same place every time. I don’t have what I need yet to get back and forth to work until my first paycheck comes. If I can’t get to work, I lose the job. If I lose the job, I can’t pay rent. If I can’t pay rent, everything falls apart. [Read more…] about Putting My Hope in God Instead of the Provision

Surrender to God When Fear Is Loud

Surrender to God

Surrender to God When Fear Is Loud

Today, returning to God looks like sitting with fear instead of running from it. It is surrender to God, not worldly hustle or frantic performance.

The anxiety is strong today. I am not paid up on rent beyond today. I only have enough money to get back and forth to work for three days. My mind keeps running ahead of me, rehearsing every possible scenario where this falls apart, and I fail again. Every outcome feels heavier than the last, and fear keeps whispering that this time I won’t make it through. [Read more…] about Surrender to God When Fear Is Loud

Returning to God When Faith Feels Uncertain

Returning to God When Faith Feels Uncertain

These days, when faith feels uncertain, returning to God feels like a stretching of my faith.

Not the kind of uncertainty that panics or spirals, but the quieter kind that removes the illusion of control. Returning to God lately has meant living with fewer answers than I would like and more dependence than I am comfortable with. It is a return that does not come with clarity up front, only the steady invitation to trust God where I cannot yet see the outcome. [Read more…] about Returning to God When Faith Feels Uncertain

Return to God: A Quiet Beginning

Return to God: A Quiet Beginning

I’ve thought a long time about how to begin again here.

Return to God has always been about return. Not the dramatic kind, and not the kind that performs repentance or announces transformation so that others will notice. Scripture rarely treats return that way. Again and again, return is presented as a quiet turning of the heart back toward God, often long after the noise has died down.

“Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts (Malachi 3:7).  [Read more…] about Return to God: A Quiet Beginning
